This is the largest private acquisition by Microsoft. The deal’s value goes more than 800 million USD.
Tellme Networks, a private company that provides automated speech-recognition services for Domino’s Pizza (NYSE:DPZ), FedEx (NYSE:FDX), and others, as well as automated directory assistance. (Try it out by dialing 800-555-TELL).
while going through interview of its CEO,Mike McCue on Fast Company, what captivates my mind is his quotes about the making company public.
Mike said
” Going public feels great–and then the next day, you wake up and realize you have all these expectations. It’s very hard to innovate and leap forward as a young public company when you need to hit quarterly goals.”
Generally,Companies try very hard to make its IPO a buzz in stock market or atleast this is the scene that is visible to me as public. But after going public,I just realised how much more efforts are needed to keep your comapany’s stock high and rising despite tremedous pressure and other internal-external factors.
Who ever opening a company and having a plan to go public in future should consider this quotes very seriously.
Mike ,when asked about the potential of voice market ,has predicted that its going to be huge [$15 billion to $20 billion market] .
Hmmm…I think its right time to learn Voice based technologies like voiceXML.If anybody knows how to start and from where…please drop a comment or mail me.

Software factory is awesome concept that is picking up the ground and Microsoft is promoting it now on its MSDN center of architecture.
I learned about the concept while digging the MSDN about the MDA(Model Driven Architecture). MDA had been there since a long in Industry but not many implementations are being done, but now things are changing.
I tried to convince and off course, market it into my organization.A lot many key people had shown the interest in this and they are quite excited that this is gonna a practical thing not a pooh pooh theory.I had given the presentation with Nishith, our system architect. Find my version uploaded here.Software factories-Introduction.
In upcoming days,I have to take a lot of care not to hurt anybody while doing this cause yesterday,I think I became a bit aggressive on my tech front.Damn it!But,That is how I when things come to technology.

I have attended the much happening event in Pune day before yesterday.
The venue is SCIT. There were whole bunch of people who has attended the blog camp. The event is successful as far as number of particepants are considered.
The sponsors had launched their products and tried to make some marketing stuff working, but as bloggers had objected to that, they had to limit it.
I tried to make networking there but as I am just a newbie to blogging world, its difficult.
Still got some good response from Parag shah and other people who had hailed from Mumbai.
will keep try to make some buzz in next blogcamp and uptill that time I try to be consistent..
Anyway, barcamp is coming in next month. Its on 7th July,2007.
It’s 3rd barcamp that is happening in my city.Have to really watch out !!

While surfing the internet I came across Mahalo.com
The site is of search engine.Nay…No big deal we have a google, yahoo, live and so many others. But the interesting fact is this search engine doesn’t have any search bot kind of thing or some algorithm behind them.
It is For the Humans and By the Human thing, and yes! this is the fantastic thing.Since long time I am searching for the search engine or say listing which are build manually or something like that.I know that there is “yahoo directories “ but UI doesn’t appealed me much.Look at my new-find and probably your expression would be “WOW” web 2.o stuff.
I know that its not technologically much challenging to do it as mahalo. But IMHO,we should back up such kind of experiments.
There are majorly 3 reasons for this.
1. Its created by human beings and not the machines.
2. As the first reason goes, the system will not have feel(??) of monotonousness.
3. If it becomes successful and million of users join this efforts like project Gutenberg or wikipedia or Digg, then my prediction is that internet users will always sick precise information within less time though Google has philosophy ” user should leave there homepage as quickly as possible.”
Aha! one more thing you must be guessing (or had googled) for what is the meaning of mahalo? its Hawaiian way of saying “Thank you”.
Please note that I am no way affiliated with mahalo .
